N.F.P.A.-17A
FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM FOR RESTAURANTS

The ES2000 is specifically made for applications relating to N.F.P.A.-17A Fire Extinguishing Systems for Restaurants. These requirements include: “A signal shall be provided to show that the system has operated, that personnel response is needed, and that the system is in need of recharge.”

HOW THE ES2000
COMPLIES WITH N.F.P.A.-17A

With the ES2000 these requirements are met by including multiple contacts and a voltage output for the shut down of cooking appliances and associated equipment. In addition, an audible and visual alarm is activated upon either the release of the system, or failure of the normally closed release operated micro switch. A visual strobe light will continue to flash until the system is restored to a normal condition. The shutdown relays will remain in the “Off” position until the system is returned to the normal state.

Other applications include machine interlocking. The ES2000 can be used to supervise relays that are part of the manufacturing process. Operation of the relay will cause an alarm, plus operate additional relays for shutdown of the process, or to turn on a supplemental piece of equipment.

The ES2000 is designed for “Fail Safe” operation. The unit, plus the monitored normally closed dry contact, must be operational for normal operation. Failure in the unit voltage, wiring, or the remote contact will cause the ES2000 to alarm.

The ES2000 is a combination shutdown/alarm panel. It has the capability to expand a single, normally closed, dry contact, into two additional contacts, plus a voltage output that can control 120 volt contactors or relays. The two relays are form “C” type, which include a common, normally open, and normally closed contact. The relay contacts are rated at 10 amps (24v/120v/220v). An additional 5 amp, 120 volt output is provided by the ES2000. The output can be used to power contactors, relays, or other devices rated under 5 amps. Under normal operating conditions, the AC output is energized. An alarm or trouble condition will de-energize the output circuit. The additional dry contacts and the voltage output will remain in the de-energized condition until the input contacts are restored back to “Normal”.

In addition to the additional relays and voltage output, the ES2000 has visual and audible alarms for notification of an alarm/trouble condition. The audible alarm can be silenced by depressing the momentary “Silence” button located on the front door. The visual strobe light, however, will continue to flash until the input contact is reset back to its normal state.

Note: The ES2000 is not to be used for direct actuation of equipment using gas shut off valves. This type of equipment requires the use of a manual reset relay, and must be used for all applications where non-electrical fuels are used.
